After Windows 7 Updates, having issues with programs and files opening with one click

I run both Firefox and IE (latest versions) and have uninstalled and reinstalled the mouse because of problems since the last Windows update.
In Firefox I have to click on browser items several times in order to get them to open.
*original title - Since my last Windows update, documents, pictures, etc.
now open with one click.
How do I turn this off? I have already tried the organize folder in Windows Explorer.*

Manually editing the Windows registry to remove invalid MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION keys is not recommended unless you are PC service professional. • In the Export Range box, be sure that "Selected branch" is selected.
• Click Save.
• The file is then saved with a .reg file extension.
• You now have a backup of your MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION-related registry entry.
