In Excel 2007, I can't find the normal fill, copy, paste, simple commands that seem to have been dropped in favor of more complex drag-downs

The ‘Fill’ option is available on the ‘Editing’ section under the ‘Home’ tab.

Machine Throttling

• Click the Start button.
• In the Search box, type "regedit" (without quotes) and press Enter.
• Look for the following registry key: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ SQMClient\Windows\DisabledSessions".
• On the right window pane, delete the subkey: "Machine Throttling".
• Restart your computer.
