Any way to completely remove filters?

I have a file with filters on, but I want to remove it.
Everytime I press the filter button, it removes it, but when I save the file, the filters still remain when I reopen the saved file.
This is annoying and for some reason takes up a huge amount of
data.
The file was normally 100kb, but shoots up to 1.7megs when the filters are there, and I'm unable to remove them.
Is there any fix to this or is it just poor programming?

There were no macros, neither was there any code under any those labels as those labels weren't there.
 
Oddly enough, I took off the filters, saved as the file in a different location, with a different file name, and it reduced the file size back to normal (but the filters were still there).  So the filter thing isn't that much of a problem anymore.
I remember
previously trying to save as to an older version of excel, and it bumped the filesize to 65 megabytes (in case anyone else has a similar problem).
