Any workaround to have a range name start with a number?

I have a few worksheets that I need to create dependant data validation lists for but one of them has numbers in the 1st list.  Since it's critical that the range name for the dependant 2nd list match the value in the original list, I'm hoping there is a
workaround that will let me name the range with a number.
 
If not ...
is there a way I can allow them to enter the number & programatically prefix it with a letter so it'll be invisible to the user but still satisfy the range name format so it can pull the second list of appropriate values for them to choose from?
Don't know if that's even possible.
The first list doesn't have to be a drop down if that helps.  There will be so many items in it that we can keep it as a straight data entry field if that helps resolve this.

Try this
 
1.
Suppose in your primary validation list, the entry is 123
2.
The constituents of 123 (which should appear in the dependent validation list) are 123.1, 123.2 and 123.3 (these appear in range D10:D12)
3.
Select D10:D12 and assign it a name as A_123
4.
In the secondary validation cell, enter this formula in Data > Validation > List > Source
 
=INDIRECT("A_"&$B2)
 
B2 is the primary validation cell where you have selected 123.
