2 UPDATES constantly FAIL to INSTALL: Security Update for Microsoft Works 9 (KB2431831) Security Update for Microsoft Office 2007 System (KB2288931)

2 UPDATES have constanly failed to Install since 12/16/10: Security Update for Microsoft Works 9 (KB2431831) and Security Update for Microsoft Office 2007 System (KB2288931).
I have tried to REINSTALL...and have CONTINUED to for over a week now with no
results.
I don't get any ERROR messages or codes so I am unsure as to what to do! They are considered IMPORTANT so I am assuming I need these updates and I HAVE TRIED RESTARTING as well after update with NO RESULTS.
The last 2 Updated that "SUCESSFULLY UPDATED"
before the long string of FAILED UPDATES that started 12/16/2010 (as before mentioned) were : Update for Internet Explorer for Windows Vista (KB2467659) and Security Update for Windows Vista (KB2305420) Anyone know what to do for the failed updates?? Any help
would be most appreciated.
