When shutting down I get error regarding WinAMRestoreWind:iTunesHelper.exe

I have Windows 7; Internet Explorer 9; Norton Internet Security 2011
I sometimes use a WD My Passport SE
I have iTunes on my Windows 7 PC simply because I was given an ipod but I choose to have Windows Media as my prime music centre.
iTunes has been on my PC only for a few months without problem until recently.
Not everytime I shutdown, but frequently I receive
the message -
 
WinAMRestoreWind:iTunesHelper.exe Application Error
instruction at 0x10003691 reference memory at 0x00000000.
The memory could not be read
Click OK to terminate program
 
The first time this happened I clicked OK.
The next startup resulted in Windows not being able to start (Blue screen, white writing etc).
Following on screen instructions the PC went through a restore/repair process.
Nothing wrong was found and Windows started.
Shutdown that time was clean.
As was
the shutdown the next day.
The day following I received the same message.
Instead of clicking Ok I clicked on Force Shutdown ( Behind the WinAMRestore message was another telling me that 2 programs were stopping Windows from shutting down.
This had been happening before the WinAMRestore
message started, but had been flashing up too quickly to be read.
-  So, I guess I have two shutdown problems.) The next startup was OK.
 
I am toying with the idea of removing the iTunes program.
Drastic, but I don't use the the facility of ipod that often, although I would rather not.
Can anyone advise me how to get rid of the WinAMRestore Application Error if I don't remove the program?
Would removing iTunes mean I could not charge my ipod via USB?
 
Also, Has anyone an idea what the other two programs could be? And how can I get rid of that message, too?

Method 1:
You may uninstall and reinstall iTunes.
Refer the link:

Method 2: You may run check disk and check.
a Click Start, type cmd in the Start Search box, right-click cmd in the Programs list, and then click Run as administrator.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.
b.
At the command prompt, type Chkdsk /f, and then press ENTER.

c.
Press Y when you are prompted to check the disk next time that the system restarts.

d.
Close all applications, and then restart the computer.
Note During the restart process, Windows checks the disk for errors and then starts.
e.
After the computer has restarted, try to perform backup and restore.
Warning: Microsoft does not recommend interrupting the CHKDSK process.
Microsoft does not guarantee the integrity of the disk if the CHKDSK program is interrupted.
For safety you can back up your data before using the check disk command.
 
You may perform a memory test in the system.

Method 3:
Reinstalling the video and audio drivers may help as well.
Try uninstalling and reinstalling sound card and audio drivers from device manager.
a) Click Start and type “devmgmt.msc” (without quotes), and then press
Enter.
b) Expand Sound, Video and Game Controllers and display adapter.
c) Right click on the sound card and display device and select Uninstall.
d) Restart the computer and Windows should now detect the sound card and install the sound and display drivers.

In this method we will try to Boot in Safe mode with Networking and see if the error still persists.

• Search "MSCONFIG" and Open.
• Click on Boot Tab
• Tick Safe Boot in Boot Option
• Select Network.
• Click Apply and OK.
• Reboot your System.
