certain websites refuse to work since updating to windows 8.1

Since updating to windows 8.1, certain websites no longer work when clicking on links/tabs within them.  I have no issues with my smartphone on the same sites so I know it is not my internet connection.

Sites will load and be visible, but clicking on certain tabs or links to perform functions get no response.
