1. Did you make any hardware or software changes prior to the issue?
Method 1:
Step 1: Boot your system in safe mode.
Check if you face the similar issue in safe mode.
To start your computer in safe mode go through the below mentioned article.

Note: You could also try booting the system in "Last Known Good Configuration.
 
Step 2: If the safe mode works fine, boot your system in clean boot mode and check if you find the similar issue there as well.

Note: After you used the clean boot to resolve your problem follow Step 7 to reset the computer to start as usual.
 
Method 2: If you are not able to boot your system in safe mode run startup repair using Windows 7 reinstallation / repair disk.
Follow the steps provided in the section "Start your computer from a Windows 7 installation disc or USB flash
drive" of the link mentioned below and run Startup Repair:

If Startup Repair does not work, please perform a System Restore using the same recovery option window.

If you failed to fix it, another option is to call Microsoft and walk through the process with a technician. To do this, dial "1-800-936-5700". Explain the error that you received and the steps in the update process during which it was displayed. The technician will be able to walk through the steps from getting a new product key to finishing the installation.
